Hummigh Brid Studios

Gina Malfetano was born in 1976 in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She developed a love of art making from a very early age and later received her BFA in Painting and Art Education from Montserrat College of Art in 1998. In her early career, she became a Special Education teacher on the Northshore of Massachusetts, met her husband Adam, then moved to the Hudson Valley in 2007 where she started a family and became a full-time homeschool mother of two. While she has always loved making art of all kinds, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, pottery, and textile art, her focus and passion have been homeschooling and art-making on her own and with her children in her home studio custom-built by Adam.

Hello. I'm introducing myself to those who don't know me. My name is Gina and I'm an artist, mother, and wife in the Hudson Valley. I am a 1998 graduate of Montserrat College of Art. While I've just begun my public exhibition journey, I've continued to maintain my art practice along with homeschooling and raising my 2 children. Currently, and since early January, I've been exhibiting in my first solo show at the Morton Memorial Library @mortonrhinecliff titled "Objective Perception and Reclamation of Agency"(see second slide)
It's wrapping up this FRIDAY, the 31st, with a CLOSING RECEPTION from 5-7pm
My latest series of paintings and textile art pieces are on view, and I'll have some various-sized, archival prints for sale at the reception. A HUGE thank you to Sandy Bartlett @mortonrhinecliff for generously offering the space to host this event and to all who can attend. I'm looking forward to meeting and connecting with you all.

Everyone in my immediate family, we just no longer call them hummingbirds. I have gifts from my entire family declaring the change in spelling and pronunciation. Its hummigh brid. Here's one from my son. 😊
